Betty Jane Jacobson (nee Benson), 87, of Elk Grove Village for 59 years, passed away at Manor Care of Elk Grove on May 3, 2018. Betty was a retired RN and a sales agent for Red-Carpet American Heritage Realty. She was the beloved wife of the late Robert E. (2011); loving mother of Robert W. (Susan), Richard A. (Jill), Eric C., and the late James E. (Kim Spera); dear sister of Arthur (Phyllis) Benson, Phyllis Goebel, and the late Joan McClary; cherished grandmother of Brian (Amber), Timothy (Michelle), Katie (Mark) Aune, Andrew (Rachel), Laura, Michael (Jennifer) and Rebecca; great-grandmother of 5. Helen T. Barmantje, 84, passed away peacefully on April 24, 2018 with her family by her side. She was a 57-year resident of Elk Grove Village where she raised her family, worked, and enjoyed many friendships. Helen was the beloved wife of the late Nick E. Barmantje (1984); loving mom of Patricia Scavone, Nicholas (Mary Pat) Barmantje, James (Lisa) Barmantje, and Amy (Brian) Ricci; dear grandma of Stacy (Jim), Jill (Toby), Donna (Donny), Sam, Kevin (Nicole), Dan (Emily), Katie (Mike), J.J. (Rachel), Megan, Brian, Mandy (Jonny), and Colie; cherished great-grandma of Kaitlyn, Ryan, Daniella, Connor, Hunter, Owen, and Carter; sister of Sue (Nick) Andrews and the late Rose Rita. Alvin “Al” Tomlinson, a retired hospital pharmacist and resident of Elk Grove Village, IL, died on Monday, April 23, 2018 at the age of 67 after a year-long battle with cancer. Al is survived by his wife, Doris, his children, Matthew, Julie and son-in-law Derek, his grandson Bryce, his brother-in-law, Garry and his brother, David. Al was born in Chicago, IL on March 22, 1951 to Irving and Doris Tomlinson. He graduated from the University of Illinois at Chicago with a degree in pharmacy and worked as a pharmacist at Elmhurst Memorial Hospital for more than 35 years. On June 27, 1976, he married his wife Doris, a special education teacher and his best friend. Al was a devoted husband, father and “papa”. He enjoyed spending quality time with his family and friends, watching sports and the news, building model trains and sitting outside on his deck enjoying the sunshine and listening to music. He will be deeply missed by his friends, family, and all who knew him. A “celebratory” visitation is scheduled from 1-4 p.m. on Friday, April 27 at Grove Memorial Chapel located at 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road in Elk Grove Village. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society.

James S. Bertucci, 84, a lifelong resident of Elk Grove Village and proud Army Veteran of the Korean War passed away April 20 after a courageous battle with pancreatic cancer. He was surrounded by his loving family. Jim was the beloved husband of the late Arlene J. nee Roggatz (2008); loving father of Michael (Dede) Bertucci, Julie (Kevin) Phelan, and Kathy Wucherer; cherished Papa of Sean, Rachel Phelan and Madi, Ben Wucherer. Jim retired from Centel Telephone Co. after 38 years. He was an Alexian Brothers Hosp. volunteer for 10 years and member of Sheila Ray Senior Center. Visitation will be held on Monday, April 23, from 3 to 8 pm at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S. Arlington Heights Road, Elk Grove Village. Chapel prayers Tuesday, 9:45 am, proceeding to Lutheran Church of the Holy Spirit for 10:30 funeral service. Interment at St. Michael Cemetery, Palatine. Hansen for 26 years; loving father of Steve Boudas and Cary Boudas; and the dear grandfather of Valerie and Matthew Boudas. Nick also leaves many loving nieces, nephews and friends. (1995); loving mother of Christine (William) Lesko, the late Claudia (Michael) Penna, Claude (Lois), Phillip (Laura), and Jeffrey Ogorek; dear grandmother of 10 and cherished great-grandmother of 17. Bernice will be remembered for her stories, smiles and laughter. Lawrence N. Paff, 93, a WWII Navy Veteran and a 58 yr. resident of Elk Grove Village, was born in Beaver Falls, PA. Lawrence the beloved husband of Roberta M. (nee Breen) for 71 yrs; loving father of Mary Ann (Hector) Garcia, Lawrence R. Paff Jr., Neil D. (Kim) Paff, Roberta M. (David) Rucinski, and Barbara L. (Wesley) King. Larry was a cherished grandfather, great grandfather, and great great grandfather. He was a dear brother of Carl David Paff, Donald (Mary) Paff, and the late Betty (late John) Kennedy and dear uncle to many nieces and nephews. Larry passed away peacefully at home Friday morning. He was a retired employee of Alden Press of Elk Grove Village, a member of Machinist Local 126 and the LST Navy Assc. Visitation will be Tuesday, 3 to 9pm at Grove Memorial Chapel, 1199 S.
